Sylvester Stallone’s career wasn’t always a shining action hero for the star. In the early 2000s, the actor experienced a low phasein which it was difficult for him to get jobs.
On his adult daughters Sophia and Sistine Stallone’s podcast last year, Sly recalled this time, which made him extremely uncomfortable with his children.
Sylvester Stallone was ashamed of his career downturn in the early 2000s
According to People, Stallone spoke on his daughters’ Unwaxed podcast about the early ’00s, when he hardly got any new acting offers:
I was ashamed to be your father. I felt so worthless. You didn’t even really know what I did for a living.
His daughters describe in the podcast that their father spent most of the day watching films at home. Stallone, on the other hand, says that he was only able to cope with the depressive period by focusing on the supporting strength of his family held on.
Sylvester Stallone’s lowest phase was marked by flops or forgotten action films
In the 00s, Stallone released films like Driven, which completely flopped, or generic action thriller stuff like D-Tox – In the Eye of Fear, which is hardly one of the highlights of his filmography. The star then managed to return to form in 2006 when he brought back one of his greatest screen icons as director and leading actor in Rocky Balboa.
You can just see the actor among other things in Yellowstone creator Taylor Sheridan’s Tulsa King series see. In it, Stallone plays a criminal who is sent into exile in Oklahoma by his boss after a 25-year prison sentence. The first season streams with a subscription on Paramount+.
