The Bundesrat finally gave the green light this Friday, March 22, to the liberalization of cannabis in the country. The second chamber of the German Parliament was, however, very divided on the subject. After years of fierce debate, the text will come into force in stages from April 1.

This is a small revolution for adult cannabis consumers. Consumption will be officially authorized from April 1, more than 100 meters from schools and outside pedestrian areas. The law also authorizes the possession of 25 grams on oneself, 50 grams at home.
A second stage of the text will come into force on July 1, with the liberalization of culture and marketing. An adult can have up to three feet of female plants. It will also be possible to obtain supplies legally through non-profit culture clubs.
Consumption and marketing remain strictly prohibited for minors, a very regulated liberalization therefore, but also very criticized. The prevention component is considered insufficient while the police doubt that the law will allow the black market to dry up.
