Ups and downs
The owners of Quino Damen Bloembinders have not avoided any challenge of their own time. The 100-year-old florist endured years of war, a banking crisis and many other historical events. Quino Damen is providing a bouquet for a regional visit by King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima in 2017. The bouquet made the news when a former police horse tried to take a bite of the flowers in Soest.
History of the store
The flower shop was founded by Cornelis Donath. He has been running the store for almost 47 years. He starts a fruit and delicatessen shop that also sells cut flowers. In 1969, Quino Damen and his wife Maria took over the flower shop. The then name of the store ‘Myosotis’ was renamed ‘Bloembinderij Quino Damen’. Quino and Maria lay the foundation for their great brand awareness, partly due to the prizes they win. After 25 years, the company was sold to the third owner Ton Jonker in 1994. At the age of 70, he sold the store to Lauritz Prins. He will receive the title of Startup of the Year in 2019.
