Elon Musk’s brain chip initiative Neuralink aims to overcome various problems by placing chips in people’s brains. Continuing its work for this purpose, a recent important step taken by the company made a splash on social media.
That step was Neuralink’s first brain chip patient playing chess with his mind power. Neuralink livestreamed its first patient implanted with a chip that uses his mind to play chess online.
ELON MUSK SHARED THOSE MOMENTS
Elon Musk, the name behind Neuralink, did not forget to share those moments on the social media platform X.

MOVED THE CURSOR
According to Reuters, the patient in question was 29-year-old Noland Arbaugh, who was paralyzed from the shoulder down after a diving accident. Arbaugh played chess on his laptop and moved the cursor using his Neuralink device.
Musk said last month that Arbaugh received an implant from the company in January and was able to control a computer mouse using his thoughts.
“I DO NOT HAVE ANY COGNITIVE DISORDER”

Referring to the Civilization VI game, Arbaugh said, “I actually gave up on playing that game,” and added:
“You (Neuralink) gave me the opportunity to do it again and I played for 8 hours straight.”
Detailing his experiences with the new technology, Arbaugh stated that it was “not perfect” and “they ran into some issues.”
“IT HAS ALREADY CHANGED MY LIFE”
“I don’t want people to think this is the end of the journey, there’s still a lot of work to be done, but it’s already changed my life,” Arbaugh said.
