After a few leaden years for the Swedish national team, it is now time for a fresh start. Jon Dahl Tomasson, who previously enjoyed great success with Malmö FF, has replaced Janne Andersson, and on Thursday awaits the first international match against the toughest possible opposition.
Dejan’s great tribute
Portugal away from home awaits in a training international match, and many are curious about the status of the Swedish national team, and how Jon Dahl Tomasson will play his football. But already in advance, at least Dejan Kulusevski does not hold back about his feelings about the whole thing.
Kulusevski, who is having a fantastic season at Tottenham in the Premier League, waxes lyrical about how Jon Dahl Tomasson handled things during his first collection.
– The feeling right now is that we got a lot together in so few days. I feel very comfortable in the way we will play, says Kulusevski to TT.
“Feels really exciting”
However, Kulusevski believes that one should not make too many changes in training, but that the entire squad has understood exactly what type of football Tomasson wants to play. Dejan says about the first impression of the national team captain:
– Very nice. I didn’t know much about him before, but he has a very good football idea, is positive and very brave. It will be great fun to play in a completely different way.
Many have hopes for a more offensive Sweden. When Janne Andersson made an attempt on a more forward-leaning national team, it ended with heavy losses and the opposite desired effect. Now, however, Kulusevski believes that Sweden is ready.
– It definitely feels like the player material is there and the knowledge among the leaders feels really exciting, says Kulusevski.
