Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had a digital meeting with the Republicans in the US Congress on Wednesday evening.

Netanyahu gave the Americans “an update on the war in Gaza, the hostage negotiations and efforts to defeat Hamas,” according to Senator John Barrasso of Wyoming.

– We told him that Israel has every right to defend itself and that is exactly what they continue to do, says Barrasso according to American media.

House Speaker Mike Johnson says, according to CNN, that he is considering inviting Netanyahu to address the entire Congress. This after the Democrats reportedly declined a conversation similar to the one he had with the Republicans.

In the past week, Israel’s war in Gaza has become partisan politics in the United States since Democrat and Senate leader Charles Schumer came down hard on Netanyahu and stated that “many Israelis have lost confidence in the government’s vision and direction forward” – a statement that has met with criticism from the Republican side.

At the same time, President Joe Biden, also a Democrat, has acquired an increasingly frosty relationship with Netanyahu. The Israeli leader has, according to American media with sources close to Biden, been considered impossible to deal with.
