The Swedish canoe world champion, Petter Menning, ends his career. He announced this on Instagram.
“It’s been amazing to be one of the fastest guys to ever race,” he writes.
36-year-old Peter Menning has had heart problems in recent years, something he tried to overcome through operations.
“I’ve done surgeries and everything else imaginable to fix it but it’s not working. When I do something, I want to do it 100 percent, and I can’t compete at that level with my heart problem,” Menning wrote on Instagram.

Menning became both world and European champion in the distance K-1 200 meters in 2013, and has another seven World Cup and European Championship medals in his prize cupboard.
