About 60 piers in Danderyd can open to everyone

About 60 piers that have been built on public land are part of an investigation that Danderyd municipality started in the fall of 2022. The municipality’s work to review piers along the entire coastline has been going on for many years.

In the spring, the work will now begin.

– What we have done so far is to review the principles for how we view the bridges. We are taking a step forward and doing this properly, says Christian Hoas (M), chairman of the real estate and development committee, to Mitt i.

Major steps in the investigation took place in August 2023. The guidelines, which were drawn up in the municipal council, then became that the private bridges must be removed or made public on the municipal land.

Picked down signs

Three private jetties in Skärviken between Djursholm and Stocksund were also investigated in January. In one of the cases, the municipality had put up two signs stating that the jetty is on public land. Signs that were both removed.

According to Hoas, that investigation will now form the basis for other private bridges that may be located on public land.

– It is not that simple that they have the right to exist or not. There may be old agreements. There may also be value in keeping some of the private jetties that exist, but establishing a lease agreement, or making them available to the public, he says and continues:

– The message from the majority is that this should be handled correctly. We have a large coast in Danderyd and we want to protect it.

Talks have now begun with several property owners for the luxury villas.
