Presidential elections have started in Russia, which will last until March 17. Russian people went to the polls starting from 08:00 local time in more than 94 thousand voting centers to determine the president who will rule the country for 6 years.
Voting will end at 20.00 in the country where there are 112.3 million registered voters. In Russia’s European territory, Kaliningrad, the polls will close at 21.00.
Approximately 1.9 million Russian voters living abroad started to go to the polls at customs offices and established voting centers as of March 1.
FIRSTS ARE EXPERIENCED IN THE ELECTION
According to IHA, the presidential election in Russia will last 3 days for the first time. According to the decision taken by the Central Election Commission, a remote electronic voting system is used for the first time to elect the country’s leader.
Voters in 29 regions of Russia, including Moscow, will be able to cast their votes remotely. While more than 4.7 million voters in total have already applied for electronic voting, the results of the electronic voting will be announced between 22.00-23.00 Moscow time.
