France will guarantee that Russia does not win the war in Ukraine, according to the country’s President Emmanuel Macron.
– If the situation were to worsen, we would be ready to ensure that Russia never wins, Macron said in an interview with French television on Thursday evening.
Anyone who sets limits on the outside world’s support for Ukraine “chooses defeat”, continues the French president ahead of a meeting on Ukraine with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk in Berlin on Friday.
– If Russia wins this war, Europe’s credibility will be reduced to zero, says Macron, who calls the Ukraine war “existential” for both France and Europe.
– Two years ago we said we would never send tanks. Then we did it. Two years ago we said we would never send medium-range robots. Then we did it, he continues.
Recently, Macron has repeatedly poked fun at German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, who is increasingly criticized both domestically and internationally for his reluctance to send Taurus long-range robots to Ukraine.
However, Germany has sent far more military aid to Ukraine than France.
