The Minister of Sports Amélie Oudéa-Castera was indicted in December in the investigation by the Court of Justice of the Republic (CJR) after the defamation complaint by Noël Le Graët, we learned this Thursday March 14 from a source close to the case, confirmed by the general prosecutor of the Court of Cassation.
A judicial investigation has been open to the CJR, the only jurisdiction authorized to judge ministers in the exercise of their functions, since June 21 to examine the complaint of the former boss of French football, who criticizes the minister for comments made in February 2023 on his management of the French Football Federation (FFF).
After 11 years of reign, Noël Le Graët left the head of the French Football Federation (FFF) at the end of February 2023 after several months of storm, weakened by clumsy declarations about the icon Zinedine Zidane and by testimonies from women attributing to him inappropriate behavior. Two weeks earlier, an audit report established by the General Inspectorate of Education, Sport and Research (IGESR) and commissioned by the Ministry of Sports had been revealed. A summary made public by the executive set out “behavioral deviations (…) incompatible with the exercise of functions and the requirement of exemplarity attached to it”.
