Israel must open all border crossings into Gaza for humanitarian aid and all attacks on humanitarian transport and civilians seeking aid must cease immediately.
It requires a majority in the European Parliament in a resolution on Thursday, passed by 372 votes to 44 and 120 abstentions.
Among other things, the members say they are “deeply concerned by the catastrophic humanitarian situation in Gaza, including the risk of immediate starvation”. At the same time, it is emphasized that there are no prospects for peace, security and stability as long as Hamas and other terrorist groups play any role in Gaza.
Of the Swedish members, M, C, L, V and MP all voted for the resolution. SD and independent Peter Lundgren voted no, while similarly independent Sara Skyttedal abstained. No Swedish S-members voted in Strasbourg, as they are instead in Umeå for the funeral of recently deceased colleague Erik Bergkvist.
