When the actor, comedian and podcast profile Mia Skäringer was 12 years old when her eating disorder began. Two years later, she had been diagnosed with anorexia.
30 years later, when Mia was 42 years old, she made the documentary Kroppshets for SVT.
In connection with that, Mia chose to tell about the difficult time she went through as a teenager.
“My period stopped and all my waking hours were spent counting calories, exercising and planning meals. In other words: Anxiety,” she wrote at the time.

Today she calls herself a “sober eating disorder”, and on Instagram she wrote that she has great respect for her body but that she is saddened by the way she has treated herself over the years.
“That doesn’t mean I go around loving myself. No, I still suffer from body loathing. But when it hits, I try to address where it’s coming from. And what’s affecting me. It’s knowing that I own the rights to my own body slowly leading me home,” she wrote.
In his podcast Skäringer & Manheimer that Mia was with Clara Manheimer so Mia told me that some of the criticism she received from angry viewers was about “it’s not useful to be fat” and “I must be able to exercise if I want to”.
– But we haven’t said that, we’ve never said that, that it’s not useful to exercise?, Mia said then in the podcast and later told why she felt it was important to make the mini-documentary in three parts for SVT’s Bill.
– If you’re useful and don’t have any problems with your body and have found your training, then it’s just a matter of congratulating you, but that’s not how it looks for most people, said Mia Skäringer at the time.

In an interview with Fact in 2021, Mia told me that she used exercise to release excess energy.
– It has only been hysterical training. Burn calories. It is embarrassing. But that’s what I’ve done to get the energy out, she said then.

Mia Skäringer has continued with the training. In a paid collaboration with the fitness app Bruce, which Mia posted on her Instagram, Mia Skäringer now talks about the training she fell for.
Mia says that she is a restless person who likes to train different things, and she runs both the gym chains STC and Friskis & Svettis.
– But I can also go to more premium studios like Barry’s, which I also like, which is more high-intensity with intervals and treadmills combined with strength training, Mia says in the clip.
