Davyd Skliar used to live in the Russian-occupied Donetsk region but left Ukraine and came to Sweden a year and a half ago. Then he had tried to join the defense several times.
– I visited the military’s office seven times, he says.
Davyd has previously worked as a volunteer helping the fighting soldiers and offered to help.
– I didn’t want to go to war, but I thought it was necessary, he explains.
But when the military wasn’t interested, he gave up. Now Davyd lives in Sundsvall and has a Swedish girlfriend. He has got a job in a bicycle shop.
Help from Sweden
Davyd does not feel that he is failing his country even if he is not there and participating in the battles. He believes that he has good opportunities to help Ukraine from Sweden.
– Among other things, by collecting clothes that we send, he says.
