Last year, the province submitted a draft version of the Utrecht Rural Area Program (UPLG) to the government, which is the plan in which all goals for the countryside are bundled. The province of Utrecht thinks it needs 3.7 billion euros to achieve its goals, such as strengthening nature.
The province hopes to come up with a final plan next year. Before the members of Parliament finalize the plans, they are taken to three different areas in the province. The Gelderse Vallei in the east, the polder in the west and the Utrechtse Heuvelrug that crosses a large part of the province.
