Breakneck action doesn’t always have to come from Hollywood and be named Sylvester Stallone and Jason Statham. The Welsh director Gareth Evans conjured up such a spectacular martial arts thriller on the screen with just one million dollars and thus had a lasting influence on action cinema and pop culture.
The Raid was convincing perfectly choreographed ultra-brutal action, which doesn’t let you go so quickly and also made the entire Hollywood competition look old. Now Gareth Evans’ milestone is released as an Ultimate Edition for the first time in 4K and even uncut with FSK 18.
Action masterpiece finally in 4K – and uncut!
Not every 4K makeover looks really good in the end, but with The Raid the extensive restoration was really worth it. You really get the uncompromising action hit in its best version. Not only is the image sharper, but the color grading has also been significantly changed, resulting in a completely different image mood.
The Ultimate Edition includes 4 discs (one 4K and three Blu-rays), in addition to the unabridged original version lots of bonus materiall included. This includes a 39-minute making-of and several featurettes, including a conversation between Gareth Evans and Mike Shinoda, who once made music history with his legendary multi-platinum band Linkin Park.
