St. George Apple Fest, an autumn tradition for four decades, is among the Top 100 Festivals and Events in Ontario for the ninth year.

“This award recognizes all the hard work the talented volunteers put into making the festival such an outstanding event,” said Jean Tucker, Applefest coordinator. “Approximately 27,000 people attended the event over two days, resulting in a substantial economic boost for the St. George area. Everyone enjoys the small-town vibe, the unique vendors and, of course, the apples.”

Profit from St. George Apple Fest goes back into the community. After last year’s event, donations were made to the South Dumfries Historical Society, St. George Masonic Lodge, Adelaide Hunter Hoodless Homestead and Brant County 4-H.
The 40th anniversary of St. George Apple Fest will be held on Sept. 21 and 22.
A number of other local events also made the Top 100 list, including Brantford International Villages Cultural Festival and the Paris Fair.

Sean Chase was named 2023 Volunteer of the Year for the Paris Fair.
“FEO maintains that the importance of volunteers to the festivals and events industry cannot be undervalued,” said a news release issued by the Festivals and Events Ontario organization. “FEO’s commitment to the festivals and industry events is strengthened by recognizing the volunteers who have distinguished themselves by virtue of their service to their community through significant involvement with festivals or events.”
In Norfolk County, Eat & Drink Norfolk made the list, as did Norfolk County Fair and Horse Show.
Festivals and Events Ontario recently announced the 2024 Top 100 Festivals and Events, with recipients representing those that “excel within the industry.”
Submissions from Festivals and Events Ontario members were received for consideration last fall and winners selected by an independent panel of judges.
“Festivals and events of all kinds from every corner of Ontario were represented in the submissions – from community festivals to internationally recognized events,” said the release.
The 2024 Top 100 Awards were handed out on Feb. 28 during Festival and Events Ontario’s annual conference in Niagara Falls.
