The Helldivers 2 community argued with the shooter’s developers because some nerfs were not well received. Now the studio employees are receiving encouragement from some fans.
Why are employees threatened with “education”?
Papa-Pilestedt scolds his charges
What form of education is threatening? Arrowhead CEO Johan Pilestedt jumped into the discussions on Reddit, explaining that a response like “git gut” didn’t follow the studio’s guidelines for proper communication, was emotional, and criticized the patch as a personal attack.
In another comment on Reddit, Pilestedt also stated that the studio would educate its developers on how they should represent the company.
Shortly after the patch, the first content update for Helldivers 2 was announced, you can see the trailer here:
“You are the worst kind of customer”
What kind of support was there now? On Reddit, the user “MrWaterplant” has now commented on the criticism of the developers and the demand for dismissal. The player takes a clear stance on behalf of the studio’s employees and receives support in the form of over 26,000 upvotes.
MrWaterplant states clearly in his post: “No, developers should not lose their jobs because they are rightfully upset about being harassed 24/7 by adults who act like children over video games.”
In the course of his 200-word text, he then explained that complaining players are the worst kind of customers:
You (those of you screaming at the developers, saying it’s unacceptable for people to be angry at you and demanding they lose their jobs) are the worst kind of people and customers, I pray for the members of the community -Teams, the developers and all employees who have had and will continue to have to deal with your whining and harassment throughout the life cycle of this game.

Different camps in the community are also represented in the comments under “MrWaterplant’s” post. Some think the player is right when he says the community went too far. Others say the developers behaved incorrectly.
Some commenters also conclude that this whole issue is typical of Reddit and some users are annoyed by both sides. Players simply want to discover posts about the game and not numerous, long threads complaining about either the developers or the community.
Maybe the point “writing long, complaining threads on Reddit” is also interesting for our list of 5 ways to make yourself really unpopular with your fellow players in Helldivers 2.
