(Finance) – “There are five multinationals interested in Ilva.” This was said by the Minister of Business and Made in Italy Adolfo Urso, during a meeting with the workers and unions of the former Ilva in Genoa. Urso then explained that “any investor who enters” will be subject to the golden power rule, “the procedure by which the government can impose bans or requirements to guarantee the level of production and investments”.
“Geopolitical events are making Italy and the large industrial areas once again central. I am convinced that Genoa will have a great future because the geopolitical conditions of our Europe are not those of the past. We are surrounded by war events which unfortunately have closed Eastern Europe. Given that Europe will not be able to advance towards the East in the coming years because another and more serious Iron Curtain has been raised, not through our determination, Europe will necessarily have to look to the Mediterranean, grow with and through the Mediterranean and therefore through Italy and the great ports that have made the history of civilisation: Genoa, Venice, Trieste, Taranto”. This was said by the Minister of Business and Made in Italy Adolfo Urso, after visiting the ex ilva plant in Genoa. ” The new steel supply chain – added the minister – needs to carry out the first part of the production in countries with low energy costs, which coincidentally are those on the southern shore of the Mediterranean and the Arab Gulf, which pass through Italian ports”
“We are satisfied that Minister Urso has removed the former Ilva plant in Genoa from uncertainty, tracing a path that will lead to the relaunch of the steel industry in our country. At the same time we will work to increase the capacity of this production site which is so important for Genoa and Liguria, also expanding it to further processes that bring well-being and employment. We stand alongside the commissioners, to whom I wish good work, to carry forward this strategic operation to relaunch steel for the country’s manufacturing industry, which is the second largest ‘Europe and to increase quality work in our region already at the top for employment growth”, said the president of the Liguria Region Giovanni Toti, on the sidelines of the inspection inside the former Ilva factory in Genoa by the Minister for Business Ursus. Present, as well as the mayor of Genoa Marco Bucci, also the commissioners Giancarlo Quaranta, Davide Tabarelli and Giovanni Fiori.
