Ice hockey: Luleå ready for the seventh straight SC final

– It’s really nice. Great to be able to decide in three games and have time to recover. We plan to be persistent at the end, says Luleå’s Emma Nordin to SVT Sport. Now Luleå avoids a long journey to Gothenburg and can rest instead.

In the final minutes, the audience clapped rhythmically.

If it wasn’t settled earlier, Noora Tulus settled it early in the third period. A shot bounced off a Frölunda skate and Tulus only had to rake the puck into the open goal from close range for 5-1.

In the final minutes, Petra Nieminen made it 6-1 in the power play after a very nice roll-up by Frölunda’s defense. Four Luleå players cooperated without any Frölunda player being near the puck.

“Don’t have the energy to match them”

– It was very nice all the way through, we have been a bit lethargic and slow in terms of power play in this semi-final series. When we move and move the puck quickly, we find such solutions, Nordin explains.

Tonight’s win was the 20th in a row for SDHL powerhouse Luleå.

– I don’t think we have enough energy to match them today even if we do what we can. It can be seen that we had a much tougher quarter-final than them, says Frölunda’s Hanna Olsson. Frölunda knocked out Djurgården in the quarter with 3-2 in matches in his first season in the SDHL.

Luleå has won every SC final since 2018, five. They were also in the final in 2020, but it was canceled due to the pandemic and no champion was appointed.
