During Friday, the police received double alarms about suspected dangerous objects in Gothenburg.
Both addresses where the police found the objects appear in a judgment from September last year, where several people with connections to criminal networks in Gothenburg are mentioned.
The judgment also includes the address in Västra Frölunda where it was blown up earlier this week.
During Friday, a sharp object was found in a residential area in Hovås. It is unclear what type of object it was.
Later in the day, another suspiciously dangerous object was found in Gothenburg. This time it was an object in the entrance to a property in Västra Frölunda. The National Bomb Squad has been on the scene and secured the item. It is still unclear if it was sharp.
– We can state that the first thing we found was sharp and explosive, but it has not detonated. Now we have found a similar object in Frölunda. But the bomb shelter was quick and was able to secure the object, so it is now harmless, says Peter Adlersson, press spokesperson at the police in the West region.
So you can’t tell what kind of item it is?
– We are working with preliminary investigations here and we do not want to say too much before we get further into it, he says.
Connects to criminal networks
The addresses where the suspicious items were found and where they were blown up earlier this week appear in a judgment from September that TV4 Nyheterna has seen.
There it appears that one of the defendants had contact with people in criminal networks in Frölunda. For the second, Frölunda is not specified, but only that the person had “association with criminal persons and environments”.
A third person who was charged in the judgment lived on Södra Dragspelsgatan in Västra Frölunda where it was blown up on Wednesday. Another multi-family building on the same street was also subjected to explosions on the same day – these happened just a few minutes apart.
Investigating connections
Peter Adlersson at the police cannot comment on whether there are any connections between Friday’s two events and explosions in Västra Frölunda earlier this week.
– It is very difficult to say at the moment. But we are working with the fact that there is a connection between the two events today. Then when we get further into the investigation, we might be able to see connections to other events, he says.
TV4 Nyheterna has information on whether there are people written on the addresses that are linked to previous convictions, what can you say about that?
– We naturally look carefully at who lives at the addresses and what conclusions we can draw. But it’s nothing we comment on at the moment.
There are still no suspects or arrests after Friday’s two incidents.
