On March 8, 2014 at At 00:41 local time, flight MH370, which will take 227 passengers and 12 crew members, takes off from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing.
But about two hours later, the plane disappears from the radar and is never found – despite the search effort being among the largest in aviation history.
Most of the passengers came from China, among them a group of calligraphy artists. But there were also two young Iranian men who used stolen passports to seek a new life in Europe, a stuntman for actor Jet Lee and a Malaysian couple on a belated honeymoon.
Open for new investigation
It is still unknown what caused the disappearance. But in March this year, Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim opened the door to re-opening the investigation – if new compelling evidence emerges, AFP reports.
– This is not a technical issue. It is an issue that affects people’s lives, and what can be done must be done, Ibrahim said during a visit to Australia.
