Star Wars fans are famous for their passion for collecting, whether it’s shrink-wrapped AT-AT walkers or squeaky Porg dolls. In this respect, they have faced a tough fate since the Disney+ era. New series have been published there for years, but Only a few productions have appeared in physical form for the streaming service. The good news: Several are being added this year.
The best Star Wars series is released on Blu-ray and in 4K
Star Wars: Andor Season 1 will be released on disc for the first time in the US in April in Blu-ray and 4K Ultra HD quality. This is reported by the industry magazine Variety.
Andor premiered in 2022 and travels back in time to before the events of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, as professional thief Cassian Andor (Diego Luna) becomes involved in the resistance against the Empire.

The series was created by Tony Gilroy, the creator of the Bourne series. Gilroy’s dark creation stands out from other Star Wars series with its sober tone and politically charged narrative of life in a fascist regime. The also impressed a large part of the critics. Andor landed at number 1 in the list of the best series of 2022, which was chosen by the editors of Moviepilot and FILMSTARTS.
3 more series from Disney+ appear on Blu-ray
In addition to Andor, three other Disney+ series will also be released in physical form for the first time: the two Marvel productions Moon Knight and The Falcon and The Winter Soldier as well as Star Wars: Obi-Wan Kenobi.
The Obi-Wan series with Ewan McGregor was unfortunately one of the major Star Wars disappointments in recent years, its thin plot spent too long rehashing familiar things. The series, which also appeared in 2022, only has a weak average of 6 out of 10 points in the Moviepilot community. Andor, on the other hand, received an average rating of 7.9 points.
The US editions of Andor, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Moon Knight and Falcon and the Winter Soldier
The new editions will be released in the USA on April 30th. So far there is no confirmation that the discs will come to Germany. However, that was the case with WandaVision and The Mandalorian.
All four series come in the US version with bonus material. For the Marvel series there will be documentaries on the creation and deleted scenes, for the Star Wars series there will be several featurettes.
When is Andor season 2 coming?
The second season of Andor is in the works, but has been delayed due to the months-long strikes in Hollywood. The 12-episode continuation of Cassian Andor’s story is expected not before 2025.
