Here is Patric Hörnqvist’s new coaching job – the former Swedish NHL star now steps into Tre Kronor

Former NHL star and World Cup gold medalist Patric Hörnqvist, 36, will be the new assistant general manager in Tre Kronor.

“It is always honorable and great to be involved in Tre Kronor. I want to build on the clarity in the relationship with the NHL players, something I think is important,” says Patric Hörnqvist in a press release.

It is a step up for Hörnqvist, who during the season was a springboard for the national team captain Sam Hallam.

“Patric completely matches the profile we have for the job. With his heavy name and good contacts within the NHL, he is perfect in the role,” says Anders Lundbergnational team manager and general manager of Tre Kronor.

Hörnqvist retired this summer after a long and impressive playing career. He has two Stanley Cup titles, a World Cup gold and played in the 2010 Olympics and the 2016 World Cup.

Hörnqvist replaces Joseph Boumedienne and the contract is valid over the WC in the Czech Republic in May. Boumedienne will continue to work with Tre Kronor, but his role is not clear, writes the Swedish Ice Hockey Association.
