Ukraine states that the ship was hit from several sides and that it was completely destroyed. From the Russian side, there has been no comment on the attack.
The attack on the ship took place in the Black Sea during the night and is said to have taken place outside the occupied Crimean peninsula. The ship is part of the Russian Black Sea Fleet and, according to TT, has been attacked before.
Last September, Sergej Kotov was attacked, resulting in minor injuries. Ships are almost 100 meters long and have been active in Russia attempts to block the Ukrainian trade at sea.
Shut down the Crimean Bridge
The Crimean bridge connecting the occupied peninsula with Russia was closed to train traffic for several inches overnight. Several explosions have reportedly been reported.
Several state-controlled media outlets in Russia confirm the closure of the bridge but have not reported that the ship was allegedly attacked.
