Both the National Assembly and the Senate had previously voted in favor of the bill also separately. The proposal, previously approved by the House of Commons, received 267 votes in favor and 50 votes against last Wednesday.
Abortion is widely supported in France. According to opinion polls, about 80 percent of French people support the legalization of abortion.
