“It’s a hole in the head”

Alvar Myhlback finished in a brilliant third place.
But now comes unexpected criticism from father Petter.
– It’s a complete hole in the head!, he says to SVT.

Already last year wrote Alvar Myhlback Swedish skiing history when he finished in eighth place in the Vasaloppet – only 16 years old. This weekend, the 17-year-old super talent made it so much better.

Myhlback’s success

Myhlback was part of the pack that made an early move and held on all the way to the finish line. The Norwegian and his teammate won Torleif Syrstadwhile Alvar finished in a very impressive third place.
– I never thought it would last, but I just had to go for it, says Myhlback about the race in the television broadcast.

On the side, there was a proud father in it Petter Myhlbackformer head coach in the Swedish national ski team, who cried when he saw his son step onto the podium in the classic Vasaloppet.
– I’m like him, but a little more gentle. But it’s only joy, I’m so damn proud of him, says father Myhlback to SVT.
– He never ceases to amaze, it’s completely insane.

Dad’s criticism

But he also criticizes his son for the foolhardy decision to withdraw early in the race.
– I am more proud now than when he stung this morning. He’s having a good day and why should he swamp it like that and stick after three kilometers. Complete hole in the head!, says Petter to the TV channel.

But the son, described as one of the world’s top skiing talents, was right in his decision and continues to impress at such a young age. He has a lot to thank his committed father for.
– It wouldn’t have worked without him, Alvar admits in the SVT studio.
– He is the one with whom I spend absolutely the most time and have done so in recent years.
