Hanna Öberg is healthy and accompanies the national biathlon team to the World Cup finals in North America.
Even Stina Nilsson gets a new chance, despite a heavy weekend in the bag.
Hanna Öberg sat out last week’s competitions in the Norwegian Holmenkollen due to illness. Now the 28-year-old is healthy and selected in the Swedish squad for the World Cup finals in the USA and Canada.
Stina’s nightmare
It is also Stina Nilsson, even though the comeback in the World Cup went like that. The 30-year-old had to drive Friday’s distance in Holmenkollen but had a nightmare day with nine barriers and a 78th place.

In part, she gets a second chance thanks to another Swedish biathlete. Since Anna-Karin Heijdenberg is in the top ten in the overall standings in the IBU Cup (the category closest to the World Cup), Sweden is allowed to bring seven ladies to North America, instead of just six.
“This extra place means a lot because we have such a strong women’s team,” says the Swedish Biathlon Federation’s sports director Anna-Maria Uusitalo in a press release.
Heijdenberg is also coming along to the World Cup final, as is the recent JVM gold medalist in the sprint Sarah Andersson. The competitions begin in Soldier Hollow, USA, March 8-10. The season then concludes in Canada and Canmore, with four days of racing March 14–17.
