The Green Party has a knife to its throat. If there had been an election today, according to SVT’s latest party sympathy survey, the party would have collected 4.5 percent of the voters. At the same time, the party had a turbulent 2023 with the election of a new mouthpiece and alarms about shortcomings in the internal work environment.

After Märta Stenevi announced in February that she was leaving as spokesperson, the MP must now choose a new female spokesperson. So far, three people have announced their candidacies. Who is best suited to lift the party will be decided at a special digital congress in April.

Amanda Lind

Lind took up the position of party secretary in 2016 and then became minister of culture and democracy between 2019 and 2021. Since the last parliamentary election, she has been chairman of the culture committee.

Janine Alm Ericson

Member of Parliament since 2014 and the party’s spokesperson on aid and equality issues. Has a background as State Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and is a member of the Finance Committee. Janine Alm Ericson has been on the Green Party’s party board since 2015. Wanted to succeed Isabella Lövin as spokeswoman in 2021, but withdrew her candidacy in favor of Märta Stenevi.

Annika Hirvonen

Member of the Riksdag since 2014 and group leader in the Riksdag and member of the tax committee. Has been the party’s spokesperson on migration issues and was involved in designing the controversial high school law. Hirvonen is the Riksdag member who has spent the most time in the Riksdag’s rostrum. Lost to Märta Stenevi in ​​the fight for the mouthpiece post in 2021.
