A 50-year-old woman was seriously injured after being hit by a car in Hjällbo in Gothenburg on Saturday evening.
The driver fled the scene and is now being sought by several police patrols.
– The accident happened at 23.31 on a small cul-de-sac, so the incident is a bit strange. Immediately after the woman was hit, the driver left the scene. We think we know who he is, but both he and the vehicle are missing right now, says Morten Gunneng, officer on duty at the police.
There are several witnesses to the incident and they have provided information that makes the police believe they are looking for the right person.
– Right now we see no connection between the woman and the man, but we hope that we will soon know if it is the right person we suspect and then learn of a possible connection, says Morten Gunneng.
A preliminary investigation regarding negligence in traffic and grossly causing bodily harm and contagion from the scene of a traffic accident has been initiated.
