Hugues Fabrice Zango, 30 years old, triple jumper, 2023 world champion, was aiming for victory again this Saturday evening in Scotland. And the bet was won since he won ahead of the Algerian Yasser Triki and the Portuguese Tiago Pereira with a jump of 17.53 m. Hugues Fabrice Zango has already made history by winning bronze at the Tokyo Olympics, his country’s first and only Olympic medal.

In the morning, the Greek Miltiadis Tentoglou, reigning world and Olympic champion, managed to retain his world indoor title thanks to a jump of 8.22 m on his first attempt. The Italian Mattia Furlani jumped as far and the two athletes were therefore decided thanks to their second best jump. Jamaican Carey Mcleod completes the podium with 8.21 m.

Indoor 400 meter world record

The Dutch Femke Bol broke her own world record in the 400 meters indoors in 49 sec 17 to claim her first indoor world title. Leading from start to finish of the two laps, Femke Bol, 24, beat her compatriot Lieke Klaver (50 sec 16) and the American Alexis Holmes (50 sec 24).

Undefeated for ten years over the distance, American Grant Holloway was crowned world champion in the 60 meter hurdles. The world record holder in the discipline crossed the line in 7 sec 29 (championship record), ahead of the Italian Lorenzo Simonello (7 sec 43, Italian record) and the Frenchman Just Kwaou-Mathey (7 sec 47). Kwaou-Mathey brings the French team its first medal at these indoor world championships.

Sad news for French pole vaulter Margot Chevrier who injured her leg when she fell next to the mat. She was rushed to a hospital on a stretcher. French number one in the pole vault this winter, Margot Chevrier was aiming for the minimums for the Olympic Games (4.73 m). She jumped 4.66 meters this winter.
