When the government abolished the climate bonus for cars, it happened quickly.
On November 7, 2022, the decision about the demolition came, and if you wanted to get paid for your bonus car, you had to pick it up the following day at the latest — November 8.
After the announcement, a lot of people therefore rushed out to get their hands on a bonus car.

Time is running out
1.5 years later, however, many have not seen the smoke of the bonus money. Soon after the decision came word that the money set aside for the purpose was not enough.
A few months later, many could not get their money as a form from the Swedish Transport Agency was missing.
Now time is running out, after the Swedish Transport Agency has announced that it is only possible to take part in the climate bonus for one more month, if you have not already done so.

March 31 end date for bonus
The basic reason for this is that the regulations governing the bonus system, called the bonus regulation, cease to apply on 1 April 2024.
In order to take part in the bonus, the bonus-eligible car must therefore be registered in the road traffic register by March 31 at the latest.
– The car must be entered in the road traffic register by the end of March at the latest in order for the bonus to be paid out, says Jonny Geidne, investigator at the Swedish Transport Agency.

Form to fill out
By 31 March at the latest, the Swedish Transport Agency must also have received the form that the authority has previously sent out. In this, the car owner must prove that the car was ordered no later than November 8, 2022.
– We know that there are cars that have been registered for a long time where we have not received any application with a certificate. Unfortunately, we do not know how many of the cars are eligible for bonuses. There is also a risk that owners of registered cars no longer have their form. In that case, you can contact our customer service by phone or via the form on the website to get a new one, says Jonny Geidne.
