On Wednesday, 667,000 cans of energy drink were sold at an executive auction at the Kronofogden, reports The Gothenburg Post. The cans are part of a total of 1.2 million energy drinks to be sold by the Swedish state. The brand is Austrian, is called “Panther king” and belongs to an Austrian criminal case, according to the Kronofogden.

The Kronofogden cannot say exactly what the crime is, but the cans are part of a criminal investigation. The Austrian court has involved Sweden through a freeze, which means asking for help from another EU member to ensure that the goods are not destroyed or moved. In this way, Sweden, and more specifically the Kronofogden, has received over a million cans in its lap.
Malin KuMrchamber prosecutor at the National Unit against International and Organized Crime (Rio), says that the criminal case is classified due to the international aspect.

The Austrian court now wants to sell the cans, with the justification that it is both impractical to store so many cans, but also that the drink has a best before date that is approaching.
After the auction on Wednesday, the Kronofogden was able to announce that some of the cans have already been sold. Together, 232 pallets were sold, which corresponds to 667,000 cans, for SEK 930,000.
