It was just before seven o’clock on Monday morning that an articulated bus, also called an accordion bus, was involved in an accident in Gärde outside Sundsvall, according to SVT.
It is currently not clear exactly how the accident happened, but the result was that the bus swerved and went off in the middle.
– We do not know exactly what happened, but it was just before 7 o’clock that the accident occurred and there were a number of passengers on the bus, says David Erixon, press officer at the bus company Nobina, to SVT.

A salvage out of the ordinary
That no one was injured in the accident seems fortunate, given that travelers often stand in the articulated section when there are many people on the bus.
It is not every day that the salvagers in Sundsvall are tasked with pulling accordion buses out of the ditches. – No, it’s the first, says the salvager Mikael Hammarsten to SVT.
A special, and somewhat newfangled, detail about the recovery is that the bus in question is hybrid-powered. The rescuers therefore had to wait for an electrician specializing in strong current to disconnect the battery before they could remove the back of the bus.

Wired, crashed, folded
According to Sundsvall’s newspaper could it have been that the bus drove into a snowdrift and then folded, while the police say on their website that “The bus is hinged in the middle and has folded in connection with the cable”.
So it seems that the bus skidded into the snowdrift, and that the stop was so abrupt that the rear skidded further on the slippery surface and buckled.
Bussboalget Nobina will investigate the accident, but it is currently unclear whether the rescue service or the police will do the same. No report of crime has currently been drawn up.
