The legendary sports journalist Arne Hegerfors is buried today in the Engelbrekt church in Stockholm. Several big sports profiles are in place.
– I really hope he is fine, what a fantastic person, says Anders “Ankan” Parmström, who was Hegerfor’s radar partner in the hockey broadcasts on SVT and later Canal+.
The guests arrive in clusters with roses in their hands. Two of the last ones in place are the sports commentators Lasse Granqvist and Niklas Holmgren.
Despite sad eyes, they are also close to laughing. Arne Hegerfors would have wanted it, states several mourners.
– He was something really special, one of the biggest in Swedish television. We grew up with him, both me and Lasse (Granqvist). He was like a friend before we got to know him. There will be an emptiness now, says Niklas Holmgren.

But in addition to the sports broadcasts, he also became a popular presenter in entertainment programs such as “Kryzz” in SVT. The program was led by Hegerfors together with the artist Björn Skifs in the years 1987–1995.
He later switched to commentating on sports broadcasts at the then Canal+ where he also retired in 2012.
– When I entered TV sports it was like entering Dramaten and meeting Arne was like meeting Dramaten’s big star. As I see it, he is the greatest football and hockey commentator that we have had, says SVT’s presenter Mats Nyström.
Arne Hegerfors was born and grew up in Gothenburg and that was also where he said goodbye to the television audience. The last match he commented on was the derby between Gais and IFK Göteborg at Gamla Ullevi.
Arne Hegerfors died on January 29. He was 81 years old.
