Sony is bringing the passkey function to the PS4 and PS5. This adds another layer of security on the console that you should use to protect your account.
Sony has announced that it will offer a new level of security on the PS4 and PS5 with “Passkey”. This allows you to make your PSN account even more secure. On MeinMMO you can read what exactly this is and how you can activate the feature.
What is Passkey? Passkey is a way that you can log in to your console without a password. Instead, you log in on your phone or computer and use a fingerprint or pin to unlock your console or account.
Passkey brings a new level of security to your account
That’s why you should activate Passkey: The big advantage of this is that your password cannot be spied on in conventional ways. The code you receive can also only be used once and then you will receive a new code the next time. This makes the system quite secure. At the same time, Sony points out that problems may occur with some hardware security keys. It is therefore better to also synchronize your key with a cell phone.
Activate passkey on PS4 and PS5: You can activate Passkey by going to the “Security” section in your account management on the PS4 or PS5. Alternatively, you can also do this via computer or cell phone.
As soon as Passkey is activated, you will receive a confirmation email. Then you can use the passkey to log in to PSN.
