Hungary’s parliament has elected Tamás Sulyok as the new president, following Katalin Novák’s resignation earlier in February.
Tamás Sulyok, head of the country’s constitutional court, was nominated by the ruling Fidesz party last week.
He takes office as president on March 5.
Katalin Novák, who has close ties to Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, resigned after sharp criticism was leveled at her after she pardoned a man linked to sex crimes against children.
