(Finance) – Form a new generation of leaders open to the world and with a solid sense of belonging to the European identity is one of the common goals for Universities of the Old Continent. A challenge taken up with determination by Luiss University, which, on Thursday 22 February, presented a Brussels the main innovations in its training offer, starting from an unprecedented “triple degree” which builds a bridge between three symbolic cities of the EU: Rome, Brussels and Frankfurt. And, at the same time, it promoted an opportunity for direct contact between students and employers in the heart of community institutions.
The theme of the skills to be developed to be successful in an increasingly international and constantly evolving job market was at the center of the event “Inquire the World: How Universities Should Educate Future Leaders“, organized at the Residence of the Italian Ambassador to Belgium Federica Favi, in the presence of the Luiss top management, the President Luigi Gubitosi and the Rector Andrea Prencipe.
“With great satisfaction we presented the Luiss model in a prestigious venue and point of reference for the Italian and European community. We thank Ambassador Favi for having opened the doors to the debate on the key topic of skills and the future of higher education. How At the University, we have always been engaged in a constant and constructive dialogue with businesses and institutions, with the aim of providing young people with the best tools to anticipate and manage the challenges that will see them as protagonists”, declared the President Luigi Gubitosi.
“We promoted the “Made in Italy” of educational excellence in Brussels, for the European leaders of the future. With three hundred thousand compatriots residing in Belgium and in the heart of Europe, Luiss’ choice to launch a “triple” diploma proved to be successful and far-sighted, destined to lay the foundation for ever greater European solidarity”, he said Ambassador Favi.
The meeting was, in fact, the opportunity to present for the first time the triple degree program “EUTribe – European Triple Bachelor’s Degree in Economics and Business”, which unites Luiss, Goethe-Universität of Frankfurt and Solvay School of Economics & Brussels Management. A path with a strong European vocation that will allow students, starting from September 2024, to immerse themselves in three different academic realities characterized by a highly innovative training method, obtaining three degree qualifications.
As stated by the Rector Andrea Prencipe: “Luiss stands out for its push for internationalization: it is an integral part of its DNA. The EUTribe Triple Degree is an important piece of the Global and Regional Engagement Strategy: with two academic institutions of absolute excellence – the Solvay School of Economics & Management and the Goethe Universität – we are committed to the mission of preparing a cosmopolitan ruling class, aware of its roots European and with an eye projected towards the world”.
High-profile protagonists from the academic and corporate world contributed to the discussion: Andrea Minuto Rizzo, Head of European & International Institutional Affairs, Ferrovie dello Stato Italiane; Luigi Ksawery Luca’, Vice President Sales Business Transformation, Toyota Motor Group; Anne Weyembergh Professor and Vice Rector for International Affairs, Université Libre de Bruxelles (ULB); Harry W. Trummer, CEO of the Goethe Finance Association at Goethe-Universität Frankfurt.
At the same time, the “Luiss Brussels Days” took place at the Confindustria headquarters in Brussels: two days of talks and opportunities for over one hundred students from the University named after Guido Carli and its Schools, who met representatives of institutions, international organizations, NGOs, law firms and companies based in Belgium.
With the mission in the Belgian capital, Luiss continues its path of international development, evidenced by the recent climb to the top of the most important world rankings: the authoritative QS World University Rankings by Subject 2023 sees the University in 14th place in the world and 2nd in the European Union in Political and International Studies, also placing it in the top 50 positions for the “Business and Management” and “Law” areas.
