The early voting process has started for the presidential elections to be held in Russia between 15-17 March. Russia’s Central Election Commission announced that ballot boxes were established for fishermen, foresters, miners and those working in difficult tasks living in a total of 37 regions, including the regions annexed by Russia from Ukraine.
Military personnel and civilians living close to the front line will also go to the polls in the ballot boxes set up in the Zaporizhia region. As of March 1, the voting process will begin abroad and at customs offices. It was learned that more than 3 million people applied to participate in online voting, and voters can also vote online between 16-17 March.
The early voting process, in which people living in parts of the country such as Kamchatka and Siberia, which are difficult to access, will be able to vote, will be completed on March 14. Once the ballot boxes are sealed, they will be added to the regional ballot boxes on the vote counting day on March 17.
4 CANDIDATES COMPETING IN THE ELECTIONS
In addition to the current President Vladimir Putin, who will participate independently in the 8th presidential elections to be held in Russia on March 15-17, the President of the Liberal Democratic Party of Russia (LDPR) Leonid Slutskiy, the member of parliament nominated by the Russian Communist Party (KPRF) Nikolay Kharitonov and Vladislav Davankov, Deputy Chairman of the New People’s Party (Novye Lyudi), will also take part. If none of the candidates receives more than 50 percent of the votes, the second round will be held on April 7. The candidate who wins the election is scheduled to be sworn in on May 7. (UAV)
