The cat Luffar-Lasse gets road signs in Trollhättan

The cat Luffar-Lasse has over 55,000 followers on Facebook and collected over two million kroner for Musikhjälpen 2023.
The now nationally famous kitty is now to be protected on its tours in the Trollhättan area – by presenting its own warning signs along the daily walking route.
– He is loved by so many and exposes himself to danger every day, says Jennie Bergius Eriksson, chairman of Trollhättan’s community planning committee.

Every day he walks two kilometers to the Överby shopping center just outside central Trollhättan.

When it’s time to go home, Luffar-Lasse usually takes a cheap ride back in one of the customers’ cars.

– He has always been very social and wanted to be seen, says owner Jan Karlsson.

A Facebook group was started by Luffar-Lasse’s family to keep track of him and the cat’s collar has contact information. Luffar-Lasse also carries a GPS, so that those closest to him will know where he lives.

Now the next step is being taken to protect the wandering celebrity.

– We do what we can to take care of our mascot, says Jennie Bergius Eriksson, chairman of Trollhättan’s community planning committee.

Collected almost two million kroner

It was in the collection for Musikhjälpen that Luffar-Lasse broke through in the broad masses. In the end, his bag had collected over two million kroner – the most of all – which was clearly more than, for example, Benjamin Ingrosso’s collection.

– The sum may be the highest ever as a private gun in Musikhjälpen’s history, says Kristina Henschen, Radiohjälpen’s general secretary to Swedens radio.

Nobbed store opening

Luffar-Lasse was also involved as a pull cord for a store opening in Överby. A red carpet was rolled out for the cat. But it didn’t turn out so well, as he just wants to run away to his normal place in the mall.

When asked if he is not afraid that something will happen to Luffar-Lasse, master Jan Karlsson answers:

– The alternative is that we have him inside, but that is not an option as he has always been an outside cat. Then he wouldn’t feel well.

Tramp-Lasse takes place in the roundabout

In the spring, a roundabout decoration will be inaugurated in Luffar-Lasse’s honor. It is a collaboration with local artists and has been voted for.

– Many Trollhätte residents have a relationship with Luffar-Lasse. If you’ve shopped at Överby shopping center, there’s a good chance you’ve met him, says Jennie Bergius Eriksson, chairman of Trollhättan’s community planning board.

– Hopefully the signs also contribute to laughter and smiles for those who drive by.
