Previously unknown moons in the solar system were discovered by telescopes in Hawaii and Chile. Accordingly, astronomers have revealed that in addition to the 2 satellites orbiting Neptune, there is also another small satellite around Uranus.
COMPLETING A TOUR IN 27 YEARS
The small satellite completed one orbit around Neptune, the farthest icy planet from the Sun, in about 27 years, said astronomer Scott Sheppard of the Carnegie Institution for Science in Washington.
Sheppard also stated that there may be many small moons that have not yet been discovered. It is noted that the new satellite orbiting Uranus, whose estimated diameter is 8 kilometers, may probably be the smallest among the planet’s satellites. (AA)
