The Spanish Julen Lopetegui and Luis Enrique Martinez are on the final list of candidates to the Manchester United bench for next season, according to Sky Sports. The Sevilla coach and the national team coach would enter a deck together with the Dutchman from Ajax Erik Ten Hag and the Argentine, now at PSG, Mauricio Pochettino.
With the certainty that the German Ralf Rangnick will not continue after this campaignthe red devils have launched a search for a new coach. Out of Europe after being eliminated by Atlético and with qualification for the next Champions League in the air, United are looking for a defined coaching profile that includes the four mentioned.
Lopetegui has already trained Porto, the Spanish national team and Real Madrid before joining Sevilla, with which he is used to directing great players. The Basque has a contract in Nervión until 2024 and Monchi, Sevilla’s sports director, does not stop repeating that he intends to retain him “for as many years as possible”, but a season full of injuries tends to burn something between the coach and the club. It is not certain that he will continue at Sánchez-Pizjuán.
Luis Enrique’s option seems even more complex, since the coach is focused on participating with Spain in the World Cup in Qatar, which takes place between November and December this year, with the next campaign already underway.
