Linn Svahn is the world’s best sprinter at the moment – and the Norwegian legend actually has the reason for that Peter Northug had a hand in the game. On December 14, 2019, the Swede’s life changed forever.
The words of Northug
At the age of 20, she won her very first World Cup race in her first real World Cup start. After the competition, she also got to meet Northug and it became emotional because of an old crush.
– I posted a picture on Instagram (see it below) four years ago when it was my greatest love in life, I was about to say. I was 16 years old and didn’t know any better, Linn admitted to SVT and told more about the meeting.
– He said congratulations and then we agreed that I was not Gunde’s daughter. Now people are starting to know that there are other Svahns than Gunde in Sweden. I get to put my name on the map.

But these days, feelings have cooled around the idol. Although he meant a lot to her becoming such an incredibly skilled sprinter.
– In 2014-2015 I was a bit head over heels. Now I feel… see. Nah, it’s probably over, says Svahn in an old interview with Aftonbladet.
– He is probably a legend in skiing. He has really been my big idol growing up. When I was little, I trained incredibly hard on sprints, because I knew that Northug is the fastest and he wins on the sprints. Then I was on and just doing sprints.
