After the announcement of a new Jurassic World film, everything should happen quickly. The sci-fi sequel has already been released in cinemas July 2025 decided and now a director has to be hired. Recently, negotiations between the studio and John Wick maker David Leitch, who was at the top of Universal’s wish list, failed. Apparently a replacement has now been found for him.
Star Wars and The Creator director Gareth Edwards is probably filming Jurassic World 4
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Gareth Edwards is in negotiations to direct Jurassic World 4. His involvement has not yet been officially confirmed. But there isn’t much left to start filming with him in the director’s chair.
After his sci-fi debut Monsters, Edwards directed the 2014 Godzilla film, which kicked off the MonsterVerse with the eventual mega-duel Godzilla vs. Kong. His dark Star Wars spin-off Rogue One was released in 2016. With an average rating of 7.5 from the Moviepilot community, the sci-fi blockbuster is the highest rated Star Wars film since the original trilogy.
In 2023, Edwards released the sci-fi hit The Creator, which not enough people saw in the cinema. If you want to catch up on the story about a frighteningly realistic robot war, you can stream The Creator with a Disney+ subscription *.

When does Jurassic World 4 start in cinemas?
The theatrical release for the next part of the sci-fi series has been scheduled for July 3, 2025 fixed. If Edwards is hired as a director in the near future, nothing should stand in the way of the planned release.
Nothing is known about the story of Jurassic World 4 yet. But it should be a kind of reinvention of the series. The previous stars like Chris Pratt will probably not return.
