What do the fans say? The first reactions in the comments (via YouTube) to the trailer show that fans are expecting the series to start in two days. Even though there were a few worried voices in advance because the series will differ from the original in some respects, the fans still seem to be very happy:

  • roller coaster98junkie19 writes: “Hope I can get off work early on Thursday, anything for Avatar.”
  • cuzim_tom281 writes: “Tears in my eyes just from the voices of Katara and Sokka”
  • DMkiller100 writes: “Okay, yes, I’m looking forward to it! Enough trailers now, I want something more from the series!”
  • Due to some changes, fans have recently heard that the live-action series would deviate too much from the original. Nevertheless, fans still seem to want to give the series a chance. User melii01 even has so much trust in the series that they are already hoping for a film adaptation of books 2 and 3.

What does the trailer show? The trailer actually shows a few new scenes that fans in particular should recognize straight away. In general, this trailer seems to show a few moments that definitely caused heartbreak in the original series.

So you can see Aang, who visits the Southern Air Temple for the first time after awakening and only finds the ruins of his old home there. A small excerpt shows Sokka standing in front of a pond and staring at the sky. Fans should quickly realize that Yue could also experience the same fate in the live-action series as in the original.

You’ll also get a lot of action and can, among other things, take a look at Avatar Kyoshi in his avatar state. Visually, the Netflix series definitely has a lot to offer and the fight scenes and effects could give fans hope for a redemption for the last live-action film.

You can judge for yourself in two days how closely the live-action series will really stick to the original and whether it can at least keep up a little.
