Joel Eriksson Ek with a whopping six(!) points during the crazy Swedish meeting in the NHL last night

Joel Eriksson Ek scored six points as the Minnesota Wild overturned two three-goal deficits to make it 10-7 against the Vancouver Canucks.
Only three Swedes have scored more points in one game – and Minnesota has never scored more goals in NHL history.

– It was probably a fun match to watch, but I’m not sure the coaches are that happy, says Joel Eriksson Ek to Aftonbladet after the match.

Two starting Swedes in Minnesota playing at home, and three in visiting Vancouver. Then it looked for a long time that Vancouver’s forward trio Elias Pettersson, Elias Lindholm and Nils Höglander would go home the happiest of the Swedes.

Eriksson Ek’s success

Until Joel Eriksson Oak started what would become an absolutely insane Minnesota turnaround. 29 seconds into the third period, Eriksson Ek made it 4-5 on the power play.

Five minutes later, Minnesota had scored four more goals and Eriksson had been behind five of the team’s eight goals. Then the drama and goals continued.

The article continues below.

Vancouver almost caught up, but at the score 8–7 sent Jonas Brodin and Kirill Kaprizov into two pucks in an open goal and the Minnesota Wilds managed a new goal record for the team in the NHL.

The previous record was eight goals – something the team managed on seven occasions in the NHL.

Three scored hat tricks

Eriksson Ek’s six points are beaten by only three Swedes in history. Patrik Sundström 1984, Mats Sundin 1992 and Daniel Alfredsson 2008 are the only ones to have produced more.

Everyone in Minnesota’s first chain scored at least three points in the game. American Matthew Boldy accounted for one goal and two assists, and Russian Kirill Kaprizov, like Eriksson Ek, scored three goals and three assists. In addition, Norwegian stood Mats Zuccarello for three points.

Vancouver’s also scored three goals JT Miller.

In Vancouver, Elias Pettersson scored when it still looked bright for the away team, then assisted by Swedish colleagues Nils Höglander and Elias Lindholm to make it 3–1.

Pettersson thus went up to 73 points in 57 games, the best of the Swedes in the NHL.

Nylander hero

Against St. Louis hooked William Nylander on Elias Pettersson in the total points league.

The Toronto forward also scored 3–1 for his team and thus went up to 72 total points during this year’s NHL regular season. Toronto Maple Leafs won against St. Louis Blues with 4–2 on the road.

Jesper Boqvist he too had a good Monday night after the former Brynäs player started the scoring for his Boston Bruins. The home team won the meeting with the Dallas Stars on penalties.
