The Prince of Wales has taken on a more visible role as a representative of the British Royal House after King Charles fell ill with cancer.
Prince William will meet humanitarian aid workers and hear their views on the situation in Gaza, the British Royal House announced on Tuesday.
William says he is deeply concerned about the human cost of the conflict in the Middle East.
– Too many have died, William commented in his statement.
William, 41, is king Charles’s eldest son and heir to the crown.
He has been expected to take an even more visible role as a representative of the British Royal House, because his father has been prevented from performing many of the king’s official duties due to cancer treatments.
Have visited the Palestinian territories before
The conflict in the Middle East has interested and spoken to the Prince of Wales before.
In 2018, he became the first senior member of the British royal family to make an official visit to the Palestinian territories occupied by Israel.
On his upcoming trip to Israel, in addition to aid organizations, William will also visit the local synagogue to hear how young people fight against hate and anti-Semitism.
– The prince and princess were deeply shocked by the events of the end of 2023. They remember all the victims, their families and friends, the royal palace announced.
The war between the terrorist organization Hamas and Israel began when Hamas fighters invaded southern Israel in October, killing around 1,200 people and taking 253 people hostage.
King Charles characterized the attack as a “barbaric terrorist attack†.
In Israel’s counterattack on the Gaza Strip, at least 28,000 people have been killed. The figure comes from the Hamas-run Gaza Ministry of Health.
