The municipality encountered a number of practical problems with this plan. For example, it is a considerable investment for local and small independent entrepreneurs, such as market traders and stand holders, to switch to electric driving. In addition, the pressure on the electricity grid in the Utrecht region is great. A connection option is therefore not always possible. But these are not the only problems. “For example, you also have a lot of vehicles that are not yet electric,” says councilor Eva Oosters. “That means you have to wait until you can do it that way for everyone.”
