“Must be honest and say it”

She is one of the greatest skiers of all time.
Now Therese Johaug breaks the silence about a sensational comeback.
– I have to be honest and say that, says the icon.

Therese Johaug, after a long doping ban, finally won her first individual Olympic gold at the 2022 Winter Games. Shortly thereafter, the news came that Johaug’s career is over, with a track record that few in history can match.

Honest words about the future

Johaug’s last years in cross-country skiing were completely fairytale-like. Johaug won pretty much every single distance race she competed in, and she was totally dominant in both the Olympics and WC. Shortly after she ended her career, it was announced that she will become a mother, but in recent months, speculation about her future has flared up.

The next World Ski Championships will be held in Norway next year, and according to reports, it will trigger Johaug so much that she is considering a comeback. Now she breaks the silence about the rumors of a sensational comeback.

– I don’t feel like going to many World Cup races and I’m completely done with the Tour de Ski, she says to Norwegian VG.

“It triggers me”

On the other hand, Johaug admits that it is one particular thing that attracts her with a return: Namely that the five-mile will make its debut in next year’s WC. It has previously only been three miles as the longest for ladies, something that has now changed.

– I must honestly admit that it triggers me that it is the first women’s five-mile race in a WC and that it takes place on the home track in Trondheim. I have never ridden five miles in the World Cup or at a championship, she says.

Therese Johaug says herself that she still keeps going and exercises, although significantly less than when she was active. As for a comeback, the announcement has not yet been made.

– I have not set a date for myself. but yes, I have to decide. I have to try to train myself, but also see if it is possible to live like that. With everyday life and if it is reasonable considering Nils Jakob (Johaug’s husband) and Kristin (her daughter). Is it worth it?, she says.
