The Helldivers 2 servers have reached their login limit. But what does that mean and what is the maximum number of players that can access the servers?
Helldivers 2 continues to be a real surprise hit on Steam and PS5, but many players are faced with a “login limit reached” message or a black screen.
You can find out what this means and how much maximum capacity the Helldivers 2 servers have here.
Helldivers 2: Server capacity – This is how high the registration limit is
How many players fit on the servers? Arrowhead, the development studio behind Helldivers 2, announced on February 18 on the game’s official Discord server that they were capping server capacity at 450,000 players. Previously, the cap on players allowed onto the servers was 360,000.
By increasing server capacity, Arrowhead wants to further improve server stability after Helldivers 2 reached a new high on Steam during the night from Saturday to Sunday.
Can you check the server status of Helldivers 2?
If you see the message “Registration limit reached”, you can assume that around 450,000 players are currently playing Helldivers 2 and the server capacity has been reached.
Unfortunately, there is no official report about the status of the servers or how many of you players are in the queue. However, we can look at the number of players on Steam.

If you want to check the player numbers on Steam yourself to give you an overview of the player numbers, you can do so here:
On the afternoon of February 18th, almost 285,000 players were online on Steam when the registration limit was reached. There must have been around 165,000 additional players online on PS5
What are the player numbers on PS5? It is impossible to check how many players are online on PS5 because there is no official counter.
Helldivers 2 Black Screen when starting the game – Is there a connection to the player limit?
What’s the deal with the black screen? Some players report that they receive a black screen when starting Helldivers 2 and then the game does not continue.
Some users suspect that this could be a bug related to the server capacity reached. In this case, instead of the screen indicating that the login limit has been reached, a black screen is displayed.
However, this is just a theory from the community, there is no confirmation of it.
